Nurses in care homes are key to delivering high-quality care, person centred care. They support residents’ physical, emotional, and cognitive needs, manage chronic conditions, administer medications, and provide wound care. Often leading multi-disciplinary teams, they enable staff to ensure standards are upheld and residents receive compassionate, comprehensive support.

The Maternity and Neonatal Network is responsible for the delivery of the Maternity and Neonatal Safety Support Programme, working with health boards and stakeholders to eliminate avoidable harm. Through this programme, we are committed to reducing stillbirths and neonatal deaths and providing equitable and safe care for all families.

We are reforming the dental contract and reorientating NHS dentistry towards a system that focuses on prevention and the provision of treatment based on risk and need. Our reforms to date have enabled over 68,000 new patients to receive a full course of treatment in the Swansea Bay area.

Our proposals under the Infrastructure (Wales) Act will allow communities multiple opportunities to engage in the consenting process from an early stage. We are also continuing work on a digital interaction project with local planning authorities to increase public access to, and understanding of, the planning system in Wales.

Welsh Government planning policy is kept under regular review. Future Wales: The National Plan 2040 was published in February 2021 and is reviewed every five years. The next review is expected to begin in 2026.

We provide a range of support for small businesses. This includes Business Wales, the Welsh Government’s bilingual business support service providing businesses and entrepreneurs with a single point of contact for business information, advice, and support. In addition, we have dedicated relationship management, innovation and export support.

We are taking bold steps to support industry in decarbonising, guided by the actions set out in Net Zero Wales. While key policy levers remain reserved, we are working constructively with the UK Government to shape the infrastructure and support mechanisms needed to deliver a fair, effective transition that works for Wales.
