The Targeted Regeneration Investment programme was launched in October 2017 with funding of up to £100 million available across Wales for the period 2018-21.  The Regional Plan for North Wales prioritised four areas for investment and in Gwynedd Bangor was put forward and agreed at a regional level.

Funding of £2 million has been awarded to the Gwynedd local authority over three phases as part of our Town Centre Loans Scheme.  This is currently being utilised in Caernarfon, Bangor and the Slate Valleys.  It is a matter for the local authority to decide where they believe this might best be used both currently and in the future.

Over the years, Visit Wales has been supporting both the Llanberis Lake and Snowdonia Mountain Railways and last year Visit Wales funded a 20-foot sword sculpture on Padarn Lake as part of Wales' Year of Legends tourism campaign. The sword sculpture aims to raise awareness of the history of the Princes of Gwynedd and their contribution to the area’s Welsh heritage.
