Through a range of actions and interventions, the Wales Farm Safety Partnership is focused on one strategic outcome; to deliver year on year reductions in the number of deaths and serious injuries that occur on farms in Wales.

The Wales Farm Safety Partnership will be highlighting the importance of Health and Safety on Welsh farms. The partnership will be providing advice and guidance in conjunction with the Health and Safety Executive in order to reduce incidents on Welsh farms by delivering the campaign “Working together to make farming safer”.

The aim, through raising awareness, is to achieve behavioural change in the approach that individuals working in the agriculture industry take to health and safety.  Through education and training we hope to equip and support the industry to take full ownership and responsibility for raising health and safety standards.  Measures include: -

·         Raise awareness and generate an industry wide commitment to Health and Safety on Welsh Farms

·         Ensuring a coordinated and consistent approach to farm Health and Safety across Wales, supported by all organisations affiliated with the Wales Farm Safety partnership

·         Engaging with farmers through a variety of coordinated communications activities including on farm safety events, mentoring, social media, publications, websites

We must not lose sight of the fact as with any industry or business sector, workplace health and safety and any measures and costs associated with making the farm safe is wholly the responsibility of the individual farm business.
