The new Wales Coastal Monitoring Centre (WCMC) will cost in the order of £4,000 to establish to cover the recruitment costs.  The Consortium managing the WCMC is made up of Conwy County Borough Council, Gwynedd County Borough Council, Vale of Glamorgan Council and Welsh Local Government Association but all coastal authorities will benefit from its monitoring programme.

Local authorities are not providing funding for the WCMC; Welsh Government are funding its establishment and first two years of operation with a grant of £300,000 per year.
